— News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News.
Quincy’s Kim Jong Koch Plaza maintenance efforts unarguably cross over to Obsessive-Compulsive.
Who ya gonna call? GUM BUSTERS!!!
While out and about on the way to an appointment during the usually quiet dog days of summer, Quincy Quarry News personnel discovered that the Koch Maladministration has called Gum Busters.
Unfortunately, Doctors Spengler, Stanz, and Venkman have moved up into management and were thus nowhere to be seen.
On the other hand, as well as fortunately, Doctors Gilbert, Holtzman, and Yates were booted after their lame reboot.
In any event, a Snow Team Six member of the Kim Jong Koch Plaza maintenance team was spotted on the plaza yesterday looking for gum to remove from the plaza’s well-past merely but immaculately maintained pavement.
Apparently the normally at least five days a week power washings of the plaza by Kim Jong Koch Plaza’s Snow Team Six were viewed as not enough to keep it clean and thus Quincy’s free-spending with taxpayers’ money mayor felt it necessary to further splurge on a cordless portable Gum Buster.
So what also for the fact that while Quarry personnel watched the city worker who is designated to work only on the roughly but acre and a half Kim Jong Koch Plaza only found a previous few instances of gum stuck to the pavement of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s precious plaza.
Then again, nothing is ever clean enough to satisfy Quincy’s peerless as well as known to be persnickety mayor when it comes to both his Edifice Complex as well as his dining habits.
Conversely, however, West Quincy’s extensively as well as smartly remodeled Kincaid Park continues to be poorly maintained as well as is arguably still less than duly completed after its first year of use after its makeover.
So what, apparently, for Quincy Mayor Koch’s statement made in advance of its opening last year that “(t)his investment should significantly enhance the quality of life in this neighborhood and for our entire city …”
Then again, rumor has it that Mayor Koch rarely sets foot in West Quincy other than to pick up a cruller or three at best doughnut maker in Quincy Donut King.
Other than somewhat recently doing a local large vacant commercial property owner a solid by brokering the sticking of West Quincy with a sprawling MBTA bus yard hard upon a quiet residential neighborhood, that is.
So what also for the fact that this grift among many others took yet another local property off of the local property tax rolls.
That and so inflict an even greater property tax burden upon long-suffering local homeowners to fund Mayor Koch’s free-spending ways.
Wicked free-spending as well as also wicked curious ways even though we are still amidst recovering from financial impacts and worse care of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It looks gorgeous at city hall plaza. I don’t mind a couple extra bucks being spent there to keep it that way. Also my taxes seem good just for the trash pickup alone, never mind all the other countless city services.
Chris,
With all due respect, you missed the point. Other local parks do not see anywhere near the same level of care. Not even close and to this verity, Quincy Quarry has a related story coming.
Also, you appear to have missed QQ’s recent coverage on problems with Kim Jong Koch Plaza’s design as addressed at https://quincyquarry.com/quincy/2021/07/08/quincys-presidents-church-goes-under-cover/
And as for cost, Kim Jong Koch Plaza cost roughly $35 million to date and is yet to be finished. Think what you may, but such is more than “… a couple of extra bucks …”
Case in point, just the underground water cistern built to feed the fountains ran close to a million to build and this is BEFORE factoring in extra costs its digging out added to the cost of renovating Old City Hall by undermining Old City Hall’s foundation.
And as for city services, are you aware of the fact that Quincy homeowners pay property taxes rough 20% to 25% HIGHER than Braintree and Weymouth, respectively, on identical assessed value properties as well as that the average assessed value homeowner in Quincy pays over twice as much in the way of property taxes as a homeowner with the same assessed value property in Boston?
Finally, do be sure note that the City of Quincy’s credit rating was recently cut for cause over ongoing concerns rather than COVID-related concerns.
But I don’t live in Braintree or Weymouth. Quincy has way more to offer. Look at how much people will pay to come live here. I’m actually surprised taxes aren’t higher. Houses and land are worth way more. As far as the City Hall Plaza. You always have to spend more on the flagship so most residents are good with that. The Mayor and the administration do an excellent job keeping the city moving into the future that is why the job is his until he decides to hang it up. God help us then if we are stuck with another Mayor Phelan type. I would worry about the likes of Councilor Mahoney but no way the majority would vote for her. I always say be happy so if the taxes and upkeep aren’t to someone’s standard why not cash in while it’s a sellers market and check out Weymouth or Braintree.
Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie — you are as obvious as a Kochian financial grift. Dining at the public trough for decades has made you sloppy.
“Quincy has way more to offer.”
Really?
Apartments, apartments, apartments, condos, condos, condos, traffic, traffic, traffic.
And of course taxes, taxes, taxes. And more taxes.
Taxes aren’t that bad. They are affordable for anyone living here. As far as traffic, where are you trying to go that you can’t seem to get to. I live and work in this amazing city and have no trouble navigating the commute. You are just trying to stir the pot right? You know you can drive anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. If not I would love to hear examples.
“Taxes aren’t that bad. They are affordable for anyone living here.”
That’s a very strange and vague statement. It references essentially nothing. It doesn’t define “affordable” — so at best it’s arbitrary. You need to try harder if you really want to make the cheerleading squad.
And don’t tell us about traffic — 20 minutes from Quincy Center to N. Quincy via Hancock St.? I wouldn’t consider that reasonable by any definition — I can walk faster.
20 minutes isn’t that bad. What is everyone in such a rush for. Plus why not go around Hancock if it’s taking that long? Doesn’t sound like you are planning your route very smartly. Also how much are your taxes? I’m around 5600.00 and totally worth it.
20 minutes to travel 2 miles? Not bad?
Maybe I should just leave a half hour earlier than I normally would — to avoid traffic — so as to arrive at my destination in less than 20 minutes.
Get back to me when you get a clue.
Dude, I can walk 2 miles in 40 minutes and in my youth could run it in 10. Next, as for your roughly 13% below average local property tax bill, who do you know in the Assessor’s office? Asking for a friend.
Again, Quincy property taxes are 25% higher than in Braintree, a third higher than in Weymouth and roughly twice as high as Boston’s on residences with the average assessed home value in Quincy.
You may not view these verities as onerous, but a lot of long-time locals are moving out of the Q and for reasons that at least include high local property taxes and not feeling that City Hall’s spending of their tax money takes care of their expectations of city services provided.
And as for your mention of traffic, for over a year traffic EVERYWHERE has been greatly reduced by the pandemic. No argument, what will be the eventual new normal remains to be seen, but some considerable increase in traffic is sure to be the case.
Also keep in mind that Quincy has but a half a dozen key portals in and out of town and in normal times they are easily fraught with disruption.
Plus, absent any indication of your commute, your claim of no problems with commuting is at best thin. For example, commuting from somewhere in the Q to — say — the DPW or City Hall is not much of a commute.
Gosh there is so many whiner babies on here lol. Everybody just get back to work and these things won’t seem so important. You know I’m right. Don’t be such silly Billy’s.
Chris,
“Facts are stubborn things.” You, however, don’t have any and are now opting for ad hominin attacks.
One might suspect that “Chris” is employed by the city. He’s certainly overenthusiastic about everything — taxes, traffic, the mayor. I’d put money on it.
Chris — AKA Pollyanna — is well known for persistent and irrational optimism.
irrational — adjective: not in accordance with reason; utterly illogical.
Fredzo – AKA Whiner baby #1 who has season tickets to the cheap seats has never put their name on a ballot or probably done any kind of civil service other than scream about the rain and who’s responsible for it. Remember Freddy when you point your finger at someone you are pointing 3 back at yourself. You know I’m right. Now come on everybody and let’s get back to work. It will take your mind off of imaginary problems.
“You know I’m right.”
I do?
Oh, are you adding ‘psychic’ to your apparent resume of silliness?
You haven’t considered that your language usage/construction tells us quite a bit about you . . . have you?
At this point I just want to see how long you will engage. You geniuses are priceless. You could make it stop by not responding but you just can’t. Lol.
Why, Chris, you’re the gift that keeps on giving. I have to thank you for your almost daily supply of vapid assertions, fact-free inanities, and otherwise puerile remarks.
You’ve placed yourself firmly into the category of free live entertainment — but don’t give up your day job. Unless, of course, this is your day job.
No this isn’t my day job lol. Just something that amuses me while in the bathroom in the morning. Tag you are it Einstein.
Still got nothing I see. By any chance are you related to the Black Knight of Monty Python and the Holy Grail infamy? Btw, dining at the municipal trough and spending your days driving around in a city ride is not public service no matter what you might care to misbelieve.
How did you know about my city ride???? You’re not invading my privacy are you? Also not really a Monty Python fan.
No one asked you whether or not you’re a Monty Python fan. Because nobody cares.
It’s obvious, looking at your empty comments that you really have nothing to say.
I see you admit you have a ‘city ride’ and if that’s true, that means, as was easily deduced, that you’re nothing more than a PR hack/flack for the Koch administration.
I think you guys are dealing with the village idiot.
Dom,
Methinks more like “a” village idiot than “the” village idiot, but point taken.
Chris,
Thank you for rising to the bait and then confirming the obvious. Oh, and do note that when you are in a city ride you have no right to privacy as it is not your ride.
Oh yes it is my ride Einstein. I can blast down the cape every weekend with this baby.
Make up your mind — you’ve admitted that it’s a “city ride” and now you’re saying it’s “my ride”.
One of those statements is true, one is a lie. Stop being so vague. Please clarify.
Oh, and I’m curious — what exactly is a “my ride Einstein.”
Chris,
If the registration notes the C of Q as the owner, it is not your ride. Then again, you would not be the first C of Q employee to commit such misuse of taxpayer-funded city resources.
Btw Einstein, QQ can see ISPN’s and other such things.
It’s my city ride fellas. Thanks for the gas also. Fridays here and I’m cape bound. I will be thinking of you guys from the beach. Lol
Chris,
Have you forgotten what happened to Quincy’s double and sometimes even triple dipper?
Regardless, thanks for confessing to arguable grand theft auto!!!
Ah, so you only lie half the time.
Got it.
It’s such a good feeling to know you’ll be thinking about “us guys” while you’re having your weekend at the “cape” (sic)
Mr. Chris is a paid city troll!
And a pretty dull one, at that.
Can’t hear you guys over the waves. New Seabury beach is gorgeous today.
Good to hear that wherever you go, we’re living rent-free in your head. You just can’t stop thinking about us. You can’t do it!
Something tells me you are accustomed to rent free lifestyle or at least WiFi free. No squatters rights here baby. Tag your it.
You’ve proven my point.
Fredzo says what?
Enjoy! That and next time you hit the Cape be sure to leave your pool open to the public as well as layout towels.
2 things. First there is no lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. Second I put that chemical in the water so I will no when you go wee wee in there. Lol
Is the pool open to non-Quincy residents?
Only on member/guest days.
Would you really want to swim there with all those clowns — members/guests — pissing in the water?
Having to deploy wee wee chemicals says a lot about your friends. Stop inviting your coworkers over and bank the chem cash. Btw, your last vig ($200) was a little light.
That’s ridiculous! I haven’t had a vig that low in a decade. You left a zero off. I will chock it up to a mistype.
“chock”? Is being semi-literate one of your “talents”?
Try ‘chalk’
Hey! I resemble those remarks.
Chris,
Do yourself a favor by quitting while you’re behind. Way behind.
Another kinda vig. At the same time, thanks for digging yourself in even deeper!
Some people are so far behind in the race they actually believe they are winning.
Glad you’ve admitted your status as a failure.
That hardly seems fair Dom. I have a family, friends, job, car and a house. What would qualify me as a loser? That hurt my feelings you meanie.
Dude, it is wicked hard to get lapped in a 440 dash, but you have been.
Give it up. Now you’re hiding behind the women and children, hiding behind a façade of “respectability”. It’s a thin, transparent façade. You’ve already revealed your lack of character so it’s too late to try to hide it.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but tomorrow is another Cape day. Yay me. Boo you. Gas up the ride I will be there soon.
Well, there it is — another thought-free and childish entry from Bizarro World.
I rest my case.
No time to rest now Dom. It’s the weekend baby. Cape waves are calling. What’s on everyone’s agenda?
