Not laying brine in the Q?

No sign of brine in Quincy.

Leading up to that start of a well-forecast in advance major snowfall hitting both Quincy as well as the fan last night, Quincy Quarry personnel as well as multiple Quincy Quarry Citizen Journalists saw no sign of brine spread on local thoroughfares so as to pretreat them in advance of the storm.

Pretreating streets with brine in advance of a storm is a common practice in other communities as well as regularly undertaken locally so as to help prevent snow from sticking to pavement and so facilitate snow clearing later.

At least it once was a common practice locally, especially well before storms and thus would often dry up and end up blown away by passing cars before the storm.

Now, however, apparently the City of Quincy Department of Public Works has decided to stop brining rather than opting for brine closer to the start of a storm per best practices for the effective pretreating of streets with brine.

That and now locals can only hope as well as that at least some are surely praying that city snow removal workers will be able to adequately clear local streets.  That and spread enough rock salt on local streets so as to mitigate local streets from turning into hockey rinks given the expected hard freeze tonight after the snowfall turns into heavy wet snow and perhaps even rain.
