Quincy’s nightly fireworks finale?
While the night air over Quincy on the Fourth of July reeked of spent gunpowder and the evening sky was more lit up than the patrons of certain recently local adult beverage watering holes at closing time, Quincy appears to have managed to avoid catastrophic fireworks-sparked house fires or wildfires.
As near as Quincy Quarry can tell, the last consequential fireworks-caused fire in Quincy was caused by last year’s City of Quincy Flag Day fireworks display.
Fortunately given the ongoing drought, this year’s Flag Day fireworks display was cancelled.
At the same time, it is unclear how many local pyrotechnics pyromaniacs may have injured themselves while firing off fireworks as Quincy Quarry has decided to not bother already Coronavirus-hammered area hospitals with inquiries about the well-being of insensitive idiots.
At this point, it remains to be seen if things will now quiet down and so ease the months long ongoing distress inflicted nightly upon the anxious, insomniacs, veterans with PTSD, and family pets or if last night was merely but a one night crescendo.
Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to monitor the situation and report back as might be appropriate.
