A local TV station is predicting a colder than average winter with above average snowfall for the Boston region.

While shorter term weather forecasting has for the most part become very good in recent years, longer term forecasting is still a work in progress.

Even so, a local TV station is predicting a colder than average winter during the fast approaching winter as well as an above average snowfall for the Boston region given its careful review of a number indicators, albeit with an understandable caveat: the boundary line for who in New England ends up whacked with the worst weather and who do not can change significantly within but a few relatively modest miles.

While the weather prognosticators at Quincy Quarry are still pondering this TV station’s winter forecast in light of their own favorite and mostly idiosyncratic indicators, everyone in the Quincy Quarry newsroom has already laid in stores of brandy.

After all, hard liquor does not go bad and eventually another snowy winter is sure to hit the fan.
