Quincy suffers snowfall.
Early on Sunday, snow yet again fell on the Q.
While this time – unlike last weekend’s storm, this time the snowfall was consistent with weather forecasts as well as mostly melted away as the storm’s precipitation turn to rain by midday as the weather warmed up into the low forties, snow is still snow.
In turn, time is winding down as regards the accuracy of Punxsutawney Phil’s forecast – five weeks ago he did not see his shadow and such calls for an early end to winter weather this year.
On the other hand, Puxatoney Phil’s forecast is more for Western Pennsylvania.
Locally, Miss G at the Massachusetts’ Audubon Society’s Drumlin farm saw her shadow and so calling for six more weeks of winter.
Similarly, last fall’s regional acorn crop was a bumper crop and the generally accurate Farmer’s Almanic says that such is indicative of a harsher winter.
In any event, by this time next week we will know if Phil was right with his calling for a short winter or if Miss G was correct for calling a longer one.
As such, count on Quincy Quarry to probably report on the final outcome once we pass the 22nd anniversary of the April Fool’s Day Blizzard and probably then be safe from suffering a significant snowfall.
