Quincy brining stopped before the coming ice storm?
While out and about on the ever increasingly mean and soon to be frozen streets of Quincy, Quincy Quarry personnel found no signs of freshly brined local streets in advance of tonight’s snow and then ice storm.
Why not makes little sense as not once but twice earlier this week city workers spread brine on city streets in advance of possible minor snow events forecast earlier this week.
As such, one is left with three plausible options as to why no brine was spread in advance of tonight’s expected snow and ice storm.
One is that senior city officials felt the two previous brinings are sufficient for today’s expected snow storm. So what, apparently, for the fact that best practices for brining streets includes doing so as close to arrival of a coming storm as possible.
Another is that perhaps these officials found the today’s forecast for snow suspect after the earlier two forecasts for snow did not pan out as predicted.
And finally, perhaps key city personnel who make important decisions took time off to go somewhere over the long Dr. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
Needless to say, count on Quincy Quarry to monitor the situation and report back as might be appropriate.
