Quincy City Hall’s new sod to get sodded?
In the mad rush to sufficiently prepare the Hancock/Adams Green for its formal dedication today, there was not enough time to let the latest sodding by City Hall to take root before the dedication.
As such, one can only assume that the sod underneath this party tent will sodded by event attendees.
This is far from the first time that the Koch Maladministration has sodded new sod at City Hall.
One would think that it would learn from past mistakes, but apparently not.

In any event, the ever growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers expect more exposés from the Quarry about the larger as well as latest sodding of local taxpayers underlying this latest Koch Maladministration overcompensating as well as wicked expensive edifice complex.
Lots of exposés.
Jesus – don’t you ever have anything positive to say? People came, enjoyed, and actually liked it. Horrors.
Say what you may, Quincy Quarry does publish positive news on occasion and will readily concede that people enjoyed the dedication event.
They may change their mind, however, when its full cost becomes knows. WBZ 4 has reported $35 million, although I suspect that this includes $8+/- million to realign Hancock Street. Also note that a cost of “only” $27 million would still make the park among the most expensive municipal parks ever built on per square foot basis in New England.
Regardless, whatever is the actual final cost, easily $10 million could have been readily saved with minimal effort and still provided a lovely park as well as STILL a very costly one on a per square foot basis.
Instead, there are now innumerable FAIR criticisms given the money spent.
For but starters, the statues of Adams and Hancock are not only leaden and trite works, they are all but fraternal twins of each other, if not identical twins. For $500,000 one would expect one could tell them apart without reading their names on their pedestals, but apparently not.
Additionally, the way over the top landscaping, fountains and increased security needs will likely cost a couple hundred thousand a year – or more.
I can’t speak for you, but $10 million in entirely reasonable design and features trims as well as so trimming $200,000 or so a year in maintenance and security costs could go a long ways to fix AND take care of the many very much less than well-maintained parks all over town.
For the $35 million cost to tax payers the people better have a good show!
Have they installed the golden gates to the park yet?
Can’t get there from other side of town. Too bad there is no parking (less because of this project), a condemned MBTA garage and way too much traffic to deal with to even attempt to get to Qwinzy Centa to see the new park!
