Seriously, while it is not illegal in Massachusetts to serve dual office-holding roles nor is collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in play for play campaign contributions made to local Quincy politicians, the Boston Globe has expressed its high dudgeon over this particular politician’s plans to double dip at the public trough.

That Mayor Heroux/Representative Heroux (wonder which title he prefers?) offered to donate one of his salaries indicates that he doesn’t understand the problem with double dipping. It’s not the salary — it’s the pension padding. He could easily retire at 50 and as a double dipper, Heroux could cost taxpayers millions to help cover his pension benefits. He must be having quite a dilemma — which salary to give up: his mayoral salary or the state rep salary. You know, the one that he just recently voted himself a nice little pay increase.
