Emmanuel Macron sworn in as President of a divided France.
In the wake of an election campaign that was in many ways often eerily reminiscent of last fall’s US Presidential elections, the first-time elected to office and arguably perhaps slightly left-leaning centrist who embraces a borderless European Union now faces steep challenges to defuse an at least at times volatile domestic populist discord.
At the age of only thirty-nine, political newcomer Macron is the youngest non-royal to head France since Napoleon.
Conversely, however, his wife and now France’s Le Premier Cougar is but several years younger than his mother.
Then again, with today being Mother’s Day, such makes as much sense as does anything else in politics these days.
