– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy Center street light is still sideways.
The long ago whacked sideways streetlight near the intersection of Hancock Street and Hannon Parkway is about to enter its eighth month of teetering sideways such that one can only assume poses risks to public safety.
Even more troubling, there appear to be no signs of its removal, much less replacement, anytime soon.
Surely such long overdue fixes were among the things expected to happen given Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s establishment of a new city department – tentatively call Traffic, Parking, Alarm and Lights – and which officially was supposed to hit the ground running on the start of the new fiscal year this month and as a manner of new fiscal year resolution.
However, as Traffic, Parking, Alarm and Lights is headed by one of the mayor’s loyal coat holders, both the Quincy Quarry newsroom and at least certain on the Quincy City Council only properly expected more of the same old same old lack of performance by this latest new unit of the Koch Maladministration.
In fact, other trafficking safety problems abound elsewhere in the Q, if not also are burgeoning.
Things are so bad that even the usually docile South Short Broadsheet felt that it had to offer chiding comment.
Not that Quincy’s City Hall is actually going to really do something of real consequence to address any of the all manner of trafficking problems in the Q.

And there’s another streetlight that appears to have been snapped off right above its decorative base column. It’s on the same stretch of road , on the same side, travelling toward Hancock St. from Burgin Parkway. It appears that this one has also been non-functional for quite some time.
Set it and forgetit.
Dom,
Thanks for the news tip!!
QQ will be on it as soon as we can whittle away at some of it’s already massive in-box of breaking badly bad news in the Q that also needs exposing.
