Quincy Center’s long knocked sideways streetlight removal and replacement yet to even but merely commence.
Fully nine months after one of the expensive and ornate cast iron street lights along Hannon Parkway was knocked sideways by someone probably operating under the influence, this streetlight continues to remain in place leaning precariously, if not also dangerously.
Quincy Quarry can appreciate how ordering replacements parts can take time on occasion, but one can only reasonably assume that at least removing the leaning streetlight could have been already accomplished in less time than it take for a human pregnancy comes to term following conception.
Similarly, last Friday began the eight week of the launch of Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s new Department of Traffic, Parking, Alarm and Light – or “TPAL” for short.
As locals will recall, the Koch Maladministration promised that funding TPAL would result in improved local services servicing of these vital public safety services.
With the days growing shorter as summer winds down, one can thus only hope that perhaps this long broken streetlight might actually be fixed before the short daylight days of winter commence.
