Former State Senator Brian Joyce charged with accepting bribes and kickbacks.

 

Brian Joyce, the former Democratic Massachusetts State Senator formerly from Milton was arrested shortly before dawn this morning at his current residence in Westport Massachusetts.

Shortly thereafter, federal authorities unsealed a 113-count indictment, with charges then filed against Joyce ranging from racketeering, extortion, wire fraud and money laundering.

 

The indictments further detail allegations that Joyce accepted bribes and kickbacks in excess of a million dollars.

Additionally, it must be noted that a Friday arrest by the federal agents on such a massive number of financial sorts of major felony allegations should be viewed as probably done so as to endeavor to see that the arrested party is not able to make bail in time to avoid spending at least the weekend as a guest of the state.

 

When Quincy Quarry went to press on this story, however, it was not known if Joyce managed to make bail.

 

In any event, surely at least a few other individuals are worried about the potential for knocks on their doors by those wearing badges and/or carrying subpoenas.
