Hillary Clinton releases her tax returns.

In a time honored way to try to slip problematic news under the radar, Hillary Clinton released her tax returns this past Friday, the least monitored news cycle day of the week as well as during the dog days of summer vacation.

How bad were the optics?

For starters, roughly 96% of Bill and Hillary’s joint tax return charitable contributions were made to the Clinton Foundation.

While – admittedly – the Ford family greatly benefacted the Ford Foundation, easily one of the biggest secular charitable foundations in the world, Hillary Clinton was hit with negative press a day earlier over her apparent use of official State Department email to seek that someone tied to the Clinton Foundation be duly provided rewarded with special consideration.

The New York Times was particularly critical about these latest revelations.

Even so, in an arguably bold attempt at spin, Secretary Clinton challenged her Republican opponent Donald Trump to release his tax returns, something which he has repeatedly said he will do as soon as an ongoing IRS audit is completed.

Granted, while Trump could release his pre-audit returns, until word might leak out that his audit has actually been completed but is refusing to release the post audit documents, he would appear for a change to so far be speaking with arguable honesty as well as plausible candor.

In the meanwhile, as it is only to be expected that Trump will either receive an adequately clean audit review or will receive massive free media coverage to rail about how the IRS has rigged things against him.

Conversely, Clinton would yet again appear to be yet again trying to bluff her way through both seemingly contradicting facts as well as troubling implications of impropriety.

Expect Quincy Quarry to continue to work the Presidential election campaign for all it is worth until at least election day in November.
