– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy Center’s long knocked sideways street light is still continuing to dangerously lean sideways.
This long ongoing threat to public safety is on the cusp of beginning its fifth month of dangerously leaning sideways along the Hannon Parkway near its intersection with Hancock Street.
Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to city officials for comment, but then realized that there was no point bothering.
By contrast, however, at least the long viewed as woefully inept Department of Conservation and Recreation – dating back to its days locally operating as the hack patron hire-laden Metropolitan District Commission – is able to at least remove a knocked over street light pole even if it at the same time unable to properly position a safety cone or remove the street light’s base.

DCR sorta/kinda almost takes care of business

As such, both the precariously still standing and dangerously leaning pole along Hannon Parkway and the remaining base of a street light along the Department of Conservation’s owned and maintained Furnace Brook Parkway continue to present safety risks to the general public.
Expect Quincy Quarry to monitor both of these as well as other government failures to duly protect the safety of the people whom they are supposed to serve.
