Quincy’s public schools finally reopened today after winter school vacation week was extended for three days given the imposition of snow days in the wake of this week’s Blizzard of 2026

While admittedly a blizzard, Quincy was hit with less to significantly less snow than what all fell on many communities south of Quincy from this week’s snow event as well as much less snowfall than from January’s snow storm, a storm which only required a day to clean up after that storm went out to sea whereas it two days to accomplish reopening local schools after the latest storm.

In any event, local school age parents surely rejoiced with police as well as Children and Families personnel likely took sighs of relief over the reopening of schools.

Unclear, however is when massive snow piles blocks lanes of traffic hither and you around the city might be cleared or if the plan is to just let them melt away.

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to monitor the situation and report on new developments as might be appropriate.
