Long purported climate change notwithstanding, the Winter of 2026 has verged on glacial.
January was “freaking” frigid and February only slightly less cold.
Even worse, a consequential nor’easter is forecast to commence tomorrow and continue for a day longer
A wicked serious bombogenesis blizzard grade nor’easter is expected.
How serious?
Worse than last month’s snow event that ranked tenth for the most snowfall on record as the snow from that storm was light and fluffy as well as not accompanied by hollowing winds whereas what is coming tomorrow is expected to be heavy and wet snow.
Seriously wet and heavy snow.
Snow that will surely freeze rock hard went the temperature plummets into the twenties overnight on Monday after the storm and then into the teens overnight on Tuesday with the overnight temperatures expected to run only slightly less cold for the rest of the week.
There is some good news, however. New York is expected to be suffering an even heavier hit by the storm.
Unfortunately, with some good all but invariably comes even more bad.
For starters, rumor has it that the City of Quincy has filled up its snow farm capacity to dump snow that would normally be scooped up and hauled away to eventually melt somewhere out of the way.
That and the snow removal spending by the City of Quincy this fiscal year is looking to potentially run around three times greater than what was budgeted.
Granted, weather happens, but at least local taxpayers should be able to expect better plowing for their bucks.
Millions and millions of bucks.
