While last night’s modest wet and heavy snowfall mostly but covered over yellow and otherwise dirty snow with but a fresh and now hard-frozen icy topcoat, the aching bones of Quincy Quarry News personnel correctly sensed well-in advance that tomorrow into Monday’s snow storm would be a big storm.
A wicked big storm.
While expected snowfall depth will likely fall short of last month’s big storm, the expected snow from the incoming storm will be much heavier as well as accompanied by nor’easter grade winds and thus likely to be a more to much more impactful storm.
For example, Quincy Quarry News’ brethren at Universal Hub have updated the Hub’s French Toast storm warning for the up coming storm all the way up to its five slice maximum warning.
If, that is, one has already laid in whatever supplies that could be had.
Local implications are considerable.
For starters, a likely school snow day on at least Monday will extend winter school vacation and so push many local parents to their limits, if past them for at least some.
Further ominous, local snow farm capacity to dump cleared snow is maxed out as well as that many local residential side streets have been less than adequately cleared.
Additionally troubling are expectations of multiple light snow and rain storms as well as multiple below freezing nights into at least the start of March.even if but refreshing snow piles with fresh top-coatings and so surely worsening local rates of Snow Daze.
That and the only to be expected laudatory proclamations out of Quincy’s City Hall about snow clearing workers who look to continue to be scoring overtime,
Serious overtime.
