First up, hold the salt as Quincy’s City Council meeting this past Monday featured several unusual — If not highly unusual — events.
Highly unusual events.
For starters, the public was allowed time to respectfully address their concerns and opinions, something which will be allowed at all city council meetings going forward.
Such public comment forums are codified in city policies to happen at least one a month, however, rarely more than two such public forums a year have happened during the overawing, controlling, and long-ongoing reign of the Koch Maladministration.
Next up was an explanation by the only male at Large city councillor as to why he undertook his highly as well as widely criticized tabling of the public comment proposal and so delayed for a council meeting formal codifying of open forums as a matter of course at every city council meeting as opposed to per the current transitional allowance of comment at the discretion of the City Council president..
His explanation: he wanted more information.
So what, apparently; for the fact that more information, debate, and possible revisions to proposed items are supposed to happen when matters undergo committee hearings.
At the same time, this councillor did not offer up any explanation as to why he also tabled and so delayed five other items from consideration.
Needless to say, time will tell if this attempt to undo the political seppuku committed during the previous council meeting display can be undo as regards this councillor’s long-known ambitions for scoring higher office.
Next up, among other business on the council’s agenda was scheduling time for city officials to address and be asked questions by council members about the Koch Maladministration’s response to a recent major snow event which blanked Quincy with snow.
That and likely address the local public schools calling for two Snow Days and so causing four days in a row of Snow Daze for locals with school age children.
Needless to say, the variable responses to the storm as well as still continuing snow clearing efforts, questions are sure to be numerous as well as likely at times pointed.
For example, potential questioning about possible short-comings include rumored paying premium pay at times when regular pay should have been the case as well as apparently running out of road salt shortly after Mayor Koch had announced that the city had ample supplies of road salt on hand.
And further as regards the salt, where did it go as Quincy’s streets do not make one think of what Romans did to ancient Carthage?

I still see kids walking in the streets going to and from school. This is crazy almost 1.5 weeks after the snow.
They need to milk the premium time I guess and go slow.
I feel like we haven’t had the ice to go through that much salt. Down south they have been using a lot but Chelsea still has a big pile.
Once again “Dopey” DiBona continues to prove his intelligence and self-awareness are truly lacking. His rambling and convoluted comments about his behavior at the first council meeting last month only proves he is intimidated by his new colleagues (females) and his feeble mind couldn’t handle the presence of strong, intelligent women.
His constant struggles with pronouncing Councilor McKee’s name alone (he kept calling her McGee) once again shows his lack of depth of comprehension and mastery of the English language or he knew it and was consciously disrespecting Councillor McKee.
I choose first one.
No offense, but when it comes to Boner both shortcomings are possible, if not also highly likely.
Had to love the first speaker during the public comment portion of the city council meeting blaming low voter turnout, write-in ballots, mail in ballots, absentee voting, and early voting for the election results. Supporters of the then incumbents could have done the same. Then he goes on to complain about the city being divided as if the inhabitants of the city, long time and newcomers, should continue with the same-old same-old spend and tax process, nepotism, cronyism, etc. As Bob Dylan said and sang, the times they are a-changin’
Agreed!
But understand, of course, that the first speaker is a lunatic.
Fredzo,
Do not insult lunatics. Some of my best friends are lunatics.
DiBona should have put his shovel down. Instead he dug himself into a Sea Street-sized pot hole.
And Graz running out of salt is a whole other story. Does he even talk to the mayor? I’m sure that Graz gets questioned a lot as he is so not qualified for this job and the physical condition of our city proves it.
