— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary.
Quincy is facing another weekend storm this coming weekend just as it continues to dig out from the recent Sunday into Monday storm.
in short, shades of the Winter of 2015 when Eastern Massachusetts was hit with four weekends in a row of major snowfalls.
So far, weather forecasters are only certain that the impending bombogenesis nor’easter will be an even more powerful storm than the one that just buried Quincy with a think and cold blanket of snow as well as that the impending storm will likely also be a cold one but its path is unsure at this point.
If the storm takes the westerly track per one forecast model, Quincy will likely be slammed with substantial wet and thus heavy snow, high winds, and problematic storm surge during full moon high tides when the aptly named Snow Moon rises on Sunday.
The middle and more easterly track per another model things will be less bad for Quincy with the heart of the storm further out to sea.
Finally, a third model is indicating an even more easterly track with the east coast of Massachusetts thus mostly suffering mostly but high winds and storm surge during full moon high tides when the Snow Moon rises on Sunday.
In short, plan on talking a leisurely stroll along Wollaston Beach on Saturday before hunkering down until perhaps Tuesday or thereabouts.
That and count on Quincy Quarry News to cover the impending storm in its own inimitable style.

I think the city needs to hire a meteorologist (with at least a six figure salary). “Qualified” candidates should submit their application with the appropriate information; relationship to the mayor, grand total of political contributions, how recently they have served on the city council, number of arrests and/or indictments…
The roads are terrible around the schools. East Squantum st is terrible with the kids walking in the street this morning to NQHS. The corners and crosswalks are not clear.
At Atlantic MS they did great in front of the school, but the kids can’t get from Faxon Rd to the school as the intersection at Hollis and Faxon is a mess.
Traffic on Hancock Street at Squantum was still missing lanes in both directions causing major backups.
Corner of E Squantum and Faxon is not crossable.
ITs like the plowed then didn’t do any cleanup except right in front of the schools.
They are screwed if we get another storm.
We are possibly getting more and heavy snow this Sunday and Monday again. The city needs to get its small sidewalk plows out there as well as its big ones to better clear streets, especially 2 way side streets. Messy 45 minutes to drive 2.8 miles between Point Webster Middle School to Parker Elementary. 🫤😭
I agree. I wish they would do mandatory parking on one side 1 night, plow it then have the cars move to the other side and then plow that side.
I have a child in middle school in Quincy Point and it was a joke trying to get her to school — 2 way streets where only 1 vehicle could go at a time, etc. We were at a stand still for 20 minutes.
Not any better in North Quincy either. It took me an hour to go 2.8 miles from one school to the other. A better job can be done. It’s not like we’ve been hit with 2015 snowfall.
Also, I’m sure the budget is there but where are sidewalk plows? I further hope that street plows come back every night this week. Everyone parked on the street dug out their cars and dumped the snow in the street.
Yvonne, respectfully, it’s spelled “joch.”
I Think They Should Get Rid Of The Snow On The Ground Now… I live on Spear Street And Think It Was Only Plowed 1 Time… Ankle Breaker Waking To Work!!!
Again, Graz is a bit over his head in snow. I wonder how much of the snow clearing cost this year will hit next year’s budget. Granted, the City can spend next year’s money on snow removal this year, but things are already tight and all the money spent on statues could have instead moved a lot of snow.
Quin,
If you think Graz is in over his head, how far over his head in the snow is the mayor?
They did some minor cleanup over night but still not safe for kids at Atlantic or HQHS. Safe streets with crosswalks cleared for kids walking to school is definitely more important than statues on police station or the lobsters on the cemetery. They need to send out 25-50 trucks and dozen loaders to clean up. Start with the blocks closest to the schools and major intersections. Probably costs $100k per night and after few nights would be done.
Need to ticket the people that didn’t shovel there walks. Not fair to the rest of us that did and the kids walking to school.
Wow it’s Friday and 4 days after school opened and they finally cleaned up Squantum street so kids can walk.
All that work and the few houses next to Atlantic still aren’t done. So kids dodging cars on busy hollis street. How do you live next to a school and don’t shovel?
Flake,
Any idea how are things around intersection of Hancock and Glover? After big snows in years past, the perimeters of Quincy Academy and Divine Mercy were often surely but coincidentally nicely cleared of snow.
