Election news that surely Quincy’s peerless long serving mayor took notice: the also long serving mayor of Everett lost his reelection bid earlier this week.
After all, the Everett mayor has a long and controversial history, including ongoing problems with his finagling a raise in ways seen to be open improper, a problem also facing Quincy’s mayor.
About the only consequential difference, Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch was not up for reelection this fall.
Instead, he faces perhaps a worse fate: the loss of his super majority of at least seven members of the nine member city council come the swearing in of seven new city councilors on New Years’ Day for the remaining two years of his increasingly looking to be last term in office.

Even more sure to be painful, the one remaining member of his coterie of tools on city council tools is perhaps the empties suit in local politics and will be paired with a stealth candidate who was but closely elected to open ward council seat as its kocked-up incumbent opted to not run for reelection after ten years in office and so vesting himself to stay in the city’s health plan as well vest pension benefits even if meager given but ten years of dining at the public trough.
Even worse for Mayor Koch, five of the incoming new councillors who are not fans of him are both female and as well as are a majority of the council in and off themselves majority of themselves
