For the second time in less than a week, an MBTA maintenance rail car derailed on the Red Line and so gave rise to the MBTA rolling out substitute bus bridge serve between Braintree and JFK stations this morning.
Needless to say, this latest derailment was not a welcome start to the often extended by many long Labor Day holiday.
The bus bridge will also only remind straphangers that Braintree Red Line service is scheduled to be replaced by bus service starting on Friday, September 6 and running through (at least, ed.) Thursday, September 29.

What’s a morning without the thrill of wondering if your train will actually stay on the tracks? And now, the Braintree Line riders get the luxury of a bus shuttle! How exciting! Who wouldn’t want to trade a relatively quick train ride for a scenic, time-sucking tour of traffic jams and missed connections? It’s almost as if the MBTA is trying to remind us all how much we took reliable service for granted. Maybe next time they’ll throw in some free coffee as an apology, or would that be asking too
Our esteemed and beloved Mayor Koch gets his photo published in the local newspaper welcoming all the family members back to Quincy at the recent re-opening of their Italian restaurant, but somehow, I missed the photo of Mayor Koch welcoming all the new foreign arrivals to Quincy as they were just getting settled in at their new luxury residences at the Wollaston “T” station on comfy concrete and beautiful green grass lawn. As Mayor of Quincy and proud member of the MBTA Advisory Committee and the MBTA Board of Directors, Mayor Koch welcomed the new arrivals to the historic City of Presidents saying to all of the Quincy residents that he wishes them well in their new homes and do not forget to vote for me for Mayor.
Goobs,
Like our peerless mayor has ever missed a meal …
