Friday night shortly after 9 pm, a Quincy Quarry News Citizen Police Scanner monitor heard word of a triple drug overdose incident in Quincy Point near where the USS Salem is berthed in former Fore River shipyard
Further, this triple overdose incident occurred within a block of three overdose incidents that occurred within but days of each other earlier this year.
Needless to say by anyone paying attention even if not all that well-reported other than by Quincy Quarry, overdoses are tragically all too common in Quincy.
In fact, the City of Quincy will be holding a vigil this coming Wednesday evening in front of City Hall to remember those lost to the scourge of drug abuse.
So what, however, about seeing much progress in Quincy as local fatal overdoes have been running higher on a per capita basis both in general in recent years as well as also ugly when compared to peer communities.
That and Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s long as well as doggedly fighting Boston’s plans to rebuild its Long Island Bridge on its dime and so be able to reestablish and expand substance abuse treatment facilities on Long Island surely has surely not helped in the grand scheme of things.
Apparently, a mile to upwards of two miles away from Squantum backyards as well as out in the middle of the harbor is too close as well as that for once Mayor is fighting the ultimate modesty amount of traffic cause by this redevelopment plan, traffic which by the way is grandfathered by law..
