Quincy Red Line straphangers heading to points past JFK station are looking at another day of substitute bus shuttle service added to this week’s bus shuttle service.
The reason why the extra day of bus shuttle service?
So as to allow for track repair needs given a rail repair equipment collusion along the Longfellow Bridge run of Red Line tracks at approximately 12:30 AM Friday morning.
The only good news is commuters and others can ride the Commuter Rail for free if they board at the Commuter Rail platform at the MBTA’s Quincy Center station. .
The bad news, however, is that anyone who opts to ride the Commuter Rail but needs to continue further along the Red Line generally or needs to make connections with the Green Line or the Orange Line service will need to either schlep on foot or catch a shuttle bus.
Quincy Quarry News briefly considered reaching out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment about the MBTA equipment collusion that extended the need for shuttle bus service as he is also the Vice Chair of the MBTA Board of Directors, however, the Quarry’s City Editor said to not bother as nothing that ever goes wrong is ever the mayor’s fault and/or responsibility.
At least as far as the mayor is concerned anyway.
Red Line service delays just hit a new high—or should I say, a new low—thanks to yet another wreck. It’s almost impressive how the MBTA manages to turn a routine commute into an epic saga of chaos and frustration. Who needs a reliable transit system when you can have an endless stream of excuses and delays? It’s as if they’ve turned “service disruption” into an art form. Here’s to hoping the next wreck brings us a creative new way to redefine what “on-time” means.
