— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary
A late afternoon thunderstorm rain yesterday and a police presence did not stop a sizeable throng of Free Karen Read supporters from turning out to picket Norfolk District Attorney Michael “Meatball” Morrissey’s annual summer campaign fund fundraiser and thus pretty much a mandatory attendance event by at least Norfolk County hacks as well as others who variously dine at the public trough and/or are grateful for past and much appreciated consideration..
Additionally as well as curiously, the Quincy police department reached out to coordinate with protesters in advance of the event.
Needless to say, surely Meatball was not amused that neither the weather nor the Quincy police department squelched the presence of protesters.
Conversely, while Quincy Quarry News was on the scene few attendees were spotted heading to the District Attorney’s weeknight buffet at a venue infamous for problematic behavior by South of Boston hacks as well as known to have hosted more than a few of Quincy Mayor Koch’s own fundraisers.
Also so far no word of any attendees engaging in errant driving or subjected to imposed Uber or cab rides home after the fundraiser.
Not yet anyway.
Further, Quincy Quarry News personnel were unable to score any sense as to how many actually showed up at the event, much less be able to discern how many may have just mailed in donation checks with their excuses — er, ah, regrets.
After all, the family dog needs to be walked and progeny picked up from summer activities programs whereas no one would accept begging off on account of having to working late at their no heavy lifting sinecures along public trough.
At the same time, Quincy Quarry News did not see Turtleboy, the ostensible point person for the Free Karen Read movement.
Then again, perhaps Turtleboy’s legal counsel tied him down for the duration so as to not risk adding to the list of chargers against him care of his reporting on the so far failed Karen Read prosecution by the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office.
Then again, he may have just been hunkered down in his shell until the rain let up.
Turtleboy is the one who had the b*lls to expose, once and for all, the corruption happening within Norfolk County. With that said, I am still glad you wrote about the standout as well as also report on a lot of the shady happenings committed by local officials!
It’s inspiring to see the community rally behind Karen Read’s supporters. This kind of grassroots activism is essential for ensuring that every voice is heard, especially when it comes to matters of justice. Picketing an event like this not only draws attention to the cause but also holds those in power accountable. Whether you agree or disagree with the specifics of the case, the right to protest and demand transparency is fundamental to our democracy. Kudos to those who are standing up for what they believe in!
