What better way for New Englanders to head into the Fourth of July than enjoying an order of fried clams?

Fried Clams AND a cold one!

In Quincy, there are two major camps of locals as to where to go for fired claims in Quincy, both of which are located close to each other along Quincy Shore Drive.

Rather then getting in the middle of this food fight, the gourmands at Quincy Quarry News have a different fav for fried clams as well as other classic clam shack offerings: Burke’s Seafood on Billings Street in North Quincy.

Granted, Burke’s does not have a waterfront view but it scores the Quarry’s nod primarily for its rigorous reliance on frying its as fresh as possible clams in fresh canola oil as well as expertly frying them for maximum tenderness.

And as for sides, Burke’s cole slaw and fried onion rings are highly recommended.

Burke’s also offers a tasty take on a Haddock-based fish chowder for those who miss how after Roger Berkowitz sold the Legal Seafood restaurant chain Legal’s new ownership dropped fish chowder from its menu.

Additionally compelling, Burke’s prices are more than reasonable given the high quality of its offerings and which include fresh seafood to prepare at home as well as party platters for those who want to party.

Further, Burke’s enjoys usually available free parking out back in a city parking lot!

After all, who in their right mind wants to risk crossing Quincy Shore Drive?
