Quincy Quarry News’ senior Citizen Police Scanner Monitor reports that Flag Day events in Quincy on Saturday helped fuel one of the busiest, if not the busiest, police radio trafficking ever heard.
Radio traffic included word of a band member down near the YMCA, medical responses for parade watchers ranging from asthma attacks to faintings, motor vehicle crashes as well as — yes — word of yet another pedestrian whacking in Quincy and which apparently went down somewhere along Newport Avenue.
Unclear, however, if there were any fireworks-caused fires.
So busy was the radio chatter that both of the City of Quincy’s first responder radio channels were both currently in use as well as seriously in use, a first time occurrence to the Quarry’s senior police citizen scanner’s experience.
At the same time, it would appear that city officials were better prepared for problems for Flag Day in Quincy after pretty much dropping the Q on Memorial Day when a city hosted a short morning parade on Memorial Day Monday made a mess of traffic in Quincy.
Kind of disappointing they didn’t set the marsh on fire. After all, it is a tradition to do so.
Louie,
If it is any consolation, QQ’s senior Citizen Police Scanner Monitor heard a lot of fire calls on Quincy Flag Day — see https://bit.ly/4c6GDOB
Unfortunately, there were so many first responder calls that was not possible to discern how many of fire department radio chatter may have involved fire calls involving the marsh.
Also unclear if the fireworks going off near a high tide and/or after Friday’s heavy rainfall might have impacted the traditional Flag Day Quincy marsh fire.
