Last week past was a relatively quiet one in Quincy.
For Quincy anyway.
Even so, it was not a week without word of even more loss for locals.
Specifically, the North Quincy hearty eaters’ dining institution that is The Wheelhouse Diner will be shutting down in the middle of next month after reaching a settlement over a long-running landlord/tenant rent dispute.
The really odd things about this unfortunate situation include the following.
For starters, the relatively new owner of the property is said to be teasing not planning to redevelop the property for at least several years, if not even a bit longer.
As such, one would think the newish property owner would like to see some rental income in the meanwhile and so defray the carrying costs of the property until she does redevelop it.
Another odd thing is how the out of town property owner’s purported local real estate agent, occasional spokesperson, and apparently the owner’s real estate advisor’s real estate broker’s license appears to have expired last year.
But not to worry for the unlicensed real estate person as she has been a sponsor of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament.
The Commonwealth’s professional licensing agency, however, “might” feel differently.
In any event, Quincy diner diners will soon be losing a chicken-fingers featuring chicken waffle plate along with many other diner classics when The Wheelhouse Diner closes up shop in the middle of next month.
And speaking of chicken, one day this past week was National Dance Like A Chicken Day.
