It is surely not a coincidence that this red letter day for mothers falls on the Friday before Mothers’ Day. 

As such, children should do the right thing for their mums with an unexpected present by cleaning up their rooms today on National Clean up Your Room Day rather than making a mess of the kitchen on Sunday trying to make a breakfast in bed for mom.

This admonition also goes to fathers BTW.  For example, just clearing away shaving stumble in the sink and lowering the toilet lid will likely be appreciated, if not greatly appreciated.
