Quincy Quarry was dimed word that Quincy’s City Council President has pulled papers to run for the US Senate seat currently held by two term incumbent Elizabeth Warren.
As the City Council President recent announced on the record that he is an independent as well as Libertarian by nature, one can only reasonably he plans to run as either an Libertarian or as an independent.
In any event, after but a few months as City Council President, one can also reasonably assume that he is both up for an upgrade and likely to press his candidacy on such points as he is someone of color, “independent,” a self-proclaimed fiscal conservative, and gay.
In turn, while so arguably a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion candidate, such will likely not be sufficient to upset Warren in spite of her variously found to be problematic claim of Native heritage.
Further problematic for the but wicked short time Quincy City Council President, his record on the council is arguably best known for his frequent absences at council meetings. That and by those in the know his long-championing of the City of Quincy launching a municipally-owned fiber optic internet cable system at a time when personal and even smaller business access to internet is ever increasingly moving to wireless 5G cellular access.
In turn, while a dubious plan for provide wired local internet access option even if most everyone is not a fan of Comcast, it would at the same time clearly appear that the council president has long been positioning himself to become the head of the likely doomed Quincy Fiber to at least financial failure in spite of anticipated federal grant funding assistance, if not also arguably given it.
After all, all he would need is three years in the post to dramatically boost his high three years for setting his eventual municipal pension care of a senior management gig in what has been proposed to be a largely out-sourced operation and thus would likely be an even less heavy lifting management post than usual at the City of Quincy’s trough.
In the meanwhile, one cannot help but wonder if the council president is more likely to be looking to fluff up his resume and bide his time waiting for the sizeable stump of an impediment for hm as well as others to have an actually viable possibility of moving up the local political food chain.
In any event, this election season move dramatically overreaches a now thankfully a former Ward One ward heeler who endeavored to move up from a relatively safe ward councilor seat to formally accorded at Large status a bit over six years ago.

An extraordinary effort in futility. He should spend His free time on attending All City Council Meetings rather than waste it to run aimlessly around the Commonwealth seeking the impossible. Clearly a Guy with way too much time on his hands.
Wow! A waste of time and effort. Elizabeth Warren is the best. She works to help the middle class in areas of consumer protection, healthcare, antitrust issues, and making the ultra wealthy and big corporations pay more taxes which will help reduce the federal government’s debt load.
Karen,
Not to worry. Ian is running in the hope of moving up in the Massachusetts GOP food chain as opposed to thinking that he actually has a chance to both score the GOP Senate nomination and then defeat Warren in November.
Unless, that is, he is even more full of himself than is currently viewed to be the case.
