Not only did City of Quincy officials duck ugly on Tuesday the thirteenth earlier this week when the much ballyhooed snowstorm ended up a bit warmer than expected as well as but a more middling rainstorm, a potentially far catastrophic incident in front of City Hall also did not occur when an SUV jumped the curb, smacked a traffic light pole and then spun onto Kim Jong Koch Plaza before coming to a halt shortly before 1:30 pm.
The SUV would clearly appear to have been totaled and the driver suffered not likely to be fatal injuries.
Amazingly, however, nothing more went south as no pedestrians were out and about during the storm.
See City of Quincy security video of the crash here.
As near as Quincy Quarry was able to glean from various sources of information, a 62 year old Quincy male who not named by police was heading southerly along Hancock Street and failed to negotiate a modest bend in the road, hit a traffic signal pole and then spun to a halt on Kim Jong Koch Plaza in front of Quincy’s City Hall after also crashing into some bollards on the plaza.
Police are said to be investigating the incident and Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to follow this story and report updates as might be appropriate.

Were those decorative bollards the real thing?
Asterisk,
I can assure you that the bollards were neither DHS grant-funded nor rated as car bomber stopping grade impediments.
