— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary
In the wake of yesterday’s Quincy Quarry News coverage on the City of Quincy’s surely expensive mixed bag response to the Sunday night into Monday morning storm that turned out to only dump rain on Quincy, the Quarry is now following up so as to honor its long standing policy of striving for balanced and fair coverage.
To this end, while the Quincy Quarry found no signs of salting local streets, much less any signs of plowing as there was no snow to plow, in response to the Sunday into early Monday morning storm, Quarry personnel did find clear signs of salting along Washington Street east of McGrath Highway as well as hints of possible salting elsewhere that was likely spread after the storm had past or at least was winding down and without dropping any snow upon Quincy.
This only adds to financial concerns over the City of Quincy’s response to the storm as the Quarry’s Senior Citizen Snow and Roads Monitor spotted city as well as vendor snow plow and salt spreader trucks parked and often idling in parking lots here and there in the Q.
Conversely, in the wake of last night’s to this mornings light dusting of snow, Quincy Quarry had no reports of snow removal trucks on the road and instead only report of slippery streets
While admittedly at least some main thoroughfares look to have benefited variably from apparently only limited spreading of rock salt on main streets as the Sunday into early Monday morning rain even was winding down, side streets were snowy slip and slides.
Needless to say, with the local temperature highs to no higher than in twenties until late morning tomorrow and thus freezing, any manner of precipitation on local streets is likely to give rise to icy slipping and sliding.
Also needless to say, the City of Quincy’s response to snow and ice weather events has yet to reach a Goldilock’s just right response, considerable expenses incurred to date on what have been modest at best snow and ice storm events to figure things out notwithstanding.
In short, so much for practice making for better.
Hard to tell whether they use a dartboard, roll the dice, cut the cards, use the rock/paper/scissors format, flip a coin or some other ‘reliable’ method for decision making. Ouija board? Astrological readings? Nostradamus?
