Quincy Center well-brined

Quincy brined well before it is time?

In advance of today’s impending as much as thirty-six hour snow event commencing late this afternoon, a Quincy Quarry Citizen Journalist reports that City of Quincy Department of Public Works workers were inexplicably brining local main streets last night.

So what for the well-known fact that the brining of streets to pretreat them as close to the start of snow and/or ice events so that the so spread salt in liquid form is not blown away by passing vehicles after it dries out.

In other words, more like within no more than a couple of hours before a storm rather than roughly twenty-four hours beforehand.

Taking care of City Hall as usual for the Boss …

In any event, it is unclear at this time why this brining was done too far in advance of the impending storm.

For example, was it done in an overreaction to Quincy Quarry’s duly as well as relentlessly pounding of the Koch Maladministration’s erratic pretreating of local streets in advance of recent well-forecasted in advance snow and ice events?

Or did the Department of Public Works have had to get a head start on brining as perhaps an excessive number of its personnel opted to book some vacay time this week as it is school winter vacation week?

Regardless of which or perhaps otherwise, so far there have been no obvious signs of pretreating less busy streets of the Q.

There is always something fishy going on in the Q

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to closely monitor the mean, cold, and soon-to-be snow-covered streets and then report on same as might be appropriate.

In the meanwhile, one would like to hope that the incoming storm will be a perfect storm for snow clearing as there will be no wind – much less any problematic tidal storm surge – as well as that the snowfall will average a relatively steady but sixth of an inch per hour or thereabouts over what is projected to be a roughly thirty-six hour light and fluffy snow weather event in the Q.
