After the year past, many surely would like to see better days in 2024.

Unfortunately, things already do not bode well for 2024.

For example, nationally we are looking at an upcoming presidential election that has the makings to perhaps become one of the most divisive one in our nation’s history.

And locally, the bovine byproduct will hit the fan this week when local property tax bills hit local homeowners property owners’ mailboxes.

Local homeowners are looking at 8.3% property tax increases on average, an as near as can be determined at least the local modern era record residential property tax increase and which not only did Quincy Quarry all but pluperfectly predict last August, the Quarry is the only news media that has to date reported this outsized percentage increase on local residential property tax bills.

At the same time, in fairness to the other news media that have Quincy as their primary news beat, neither has the Koch Maladministration duly acknowledged the 8.3% residential property tax increase needed to fund its accurately counted 10% Fiscal Year 2024 budget spending increase.

Then again, such silence is only to be expected.

After all, not only is this outsized tax increase the result of “Mayor Tommy Taxes” Koch’s free-spending ways, this personal budget-busting tax increase about to be inflicted upon local homeowners is also roughly half again or more as great a percentage increase than the typical residential property tax increases on owner-occupied residences in adjacent communities as well as peer communities statewide.

In short, as well as yet again: Only in Quincy© …
