— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary
With apologies to the original as well as to mitigate at least some of the stink for its loyal readers — and thus unlike other news media, Quincy Quarry News’ end of year wrap up will be limited to but the last couple of weeks along with a few teases of what to expect to come in 2024.
The teases first: coming early in the New Year will be Quincy Quarry’s reviews of how the Koch Maladministration handed out massive before Christmas gifts to favored developers.
Seriously massive gifts that were ultimately paid for with taxpayers’ money.
Developers who has long generously as well as often timely contributed to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s campaign fund.
After all, Tommy needs to spend big to buy his way to reelection and so be able to cover his six from suffering long-overdue reviews of the city’s books and more — especially more.
In turn, these developers expect koched-up returns on their investments, especially on their typically considerable and sometimes illegal campaign fund contributions.
Moving on, highlights, low lights, and even no lights follow.
For example, as well as the last first: the lights went out in Quincy Center during a recent high wind weather event.
But not to worry about City Hall as it has a massive back-up generator even though elsewhere in Quincy Center lights out was the order of the day for most rest of the day.
And as for low lights, the Nutcracker on display adjacent to City Hall was laid low during the storm as well as has been MIA since.
Finally, for highlights were accidents and crime.
Accidents included not just one, but two pedestrian whackings as well as someone’s ride ending up turned over in Quincy Center.
Crime, on the other hand, included an apparent gunfire incident at or at least near a Houghs Neck watering hole late this past Thursday and which the resulted in a police chase all the way the vicinity of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Natural Resource’s Devine Rink hockey rink in Boston’s Neponset neighborhood.
A joint police departments collaboration then captured the suspected perps.
In short, as well as yet again: Only in Quincy© as well as in this case also in Boston.
1. You desperately need an editor.
2. Koch’s spending is evident in this year’s tax bill increase.
3. I enjoy you columns. But, they are almost impossible to read.
Ms Dwyer,
Quincy Quarry has long tried to no avail to score a copy editor. Accordingly, efforts are made to circle back around after publication for one more edit, however imperfect they admittedly tend to be.
Next, if you think this year’s tax increase was ugly, next year’s increase already looks to be almost as ugly with the year after likely to the ugliest of all. Even worse, further years out will likely be similarly ugly as various kited expenses come home to roost.
Finally, it is only fair to cut QQ some slack. After all, explaining the doings and especially the misdoings going down in the Q often takes some doing. Plus, it’s not like other media are doing so.
In any event, the QQ team is glad to hear that you enjoy QQ.
