Quincy Square was hit with the latest pedestrian strike during the evening commute on Friday and so gave rise to the only to be expected additional problems.
Police radio chatter noted 1354 Hancock as the approximate address for this latest pedestrian whacking in Quincy.
In turn, this address would suggest that this latest pedestrian whacking in Quincy occurred at least near the problematic “Hawk Lights” traffic signals for the crosswalk located between Craig’s Restaurant and the Hancock Cemetery next to Old City Hall.
Police radio chatter also indicated that the pedestrian was struck by a commercial vehicle.
The radio chatter further indicated the possibility of serious injuries as well as noted that Brewster Ambulance, the Quincy firefighters, and Quincy police officer all rolled to the scene.
Needless to say, Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to follow up on this latest pedestrian whacking in Quincy and report updates as might be appropriate.
“Hawk Lights” translates into crosswalk roulette. People both on-foot and driving have only a marginally acceptable grasp of the standard red-yellow-green traffic signals. But to employ these lights in an area with irrational and obviously confusing traffic patterns — both legal and illegal — is a recipe for disaster. Chaos at best.
