— News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News with commentary added
One of Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers advised the Quarry that he was recently contacted by a pollster probing for responses on the upcoming mayoral election.
Incumbent Mayor Thomas P. Koch is assumed to have commissioned this poll. His July 2023 campaign fund report filing with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance notes a $15,000 payment to Dapa Research Inc. and which claims to be one of nation’s top polling shops even if a mayoral election in Quincy is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things polling.
Even so, Koch has still over the years paid Dapa $103,819.70 out of the $650,883.55 in revenue received by Dapa for polling done in Massachusetts by those who have to report such expenses with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance since 2004.
Then again, what is spending $15,000 with a top polling shop what with Mayor Koch’s campaign fund having already paid out to several hundred thousand dollars to various political campaign consultants since the last election per Quincy Quarry’s review of Koch’s campaign fund reports filled with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Further underscoring how $15,000 is chump change for Mayor Koch, Quincy Quarry expects that he will likely spend to million or more so as to endeavor to buy his reelection to yet another term in office in spite of growing grumbling about him on the ever-increasingly mean streets of Quincy.
In any event, as for questions asked by the pollster, what was interesting how she did not broach topics surely of interest to local voters.
For but a few examples of concerns not broached, exploding city budgets in recent years given koched-up spending as well as undertaking considerable amounts of municipal debt so as to spend even more, Boston’s now all but certain to happen plans to rebuild its bridge to its property on Long Island, the looking likely to be vacated by Supreme Judicial Court Mayor Koch’s seizure of the Adams Academy property and where the Quincy Hysterical Society is the only tenant, and the lack of transparency about all manner of things such as the status of things as regards the $3.5 million cyberheist of funds from the city employees’ pension fund.
At the same time, the female pollster did try to promote the notion that the long thinly at best funded Quincy Public School system is a top-tier school district in the Commonwealth.
So what for the fact that Quincy students’ MCAS test scores have long stayed all but stuck at the but 35 percentile or thereabouts level when compared to all Massachusetts public school students. Stipulated criticisms of the MCAS tests notwithstanding, MCAS test track in all but lockstep with the US Department of Education’s National Assessment of Education Progress tests.
In turn, the interviewed Quincy Quarry reader duly spitballed this bogus assertion without mercy at a level akin to what is typically inflicted upon a substitute teacher.
At the same time as well as In all fairness, it must to noted that the pollster did duly probe for some open-ended responses rather than just offering up a slate of set options and so got an earful.
For example, the pollster asked the Quarry reader to rank by importance his sources of local news, the South Shore broadsheet, the local tabloid, social media, and the option of noting “other.”
In turn, the Quincy Quarry reader noted Quincy Quarry News and pollster surely spewed as well as spewed in such fashion that the polled individual could tell that the pollster knew about the Quarry.
In short, only Quincy Quarry News prints the local news that needs to be printed.
Even if much to the chagrin of the Koch Maladministration, if not especially so.
