Motor vehicle pedestrian fatalities statewide were up by 35% in 2022 from those inflicted in 2021 per a comprehensive study recently released by WalkBoston.
Even worse for Quincy locals, local pedestrian fatalities were 37% higher in 2022 than the statewide average on a per capita basis.
As highlighted in a local broadcast news’ featured coverage of the WalkBoston study, seniors citizens are the most often killed in motor vehicle strikes of pedestrians as compared to other age groups.
And locally, in just last month as well as so far this month alone, Quincy Quarry has variously reported on six pedestrians who were struck in Quincy.
Additionally, the South Shore broadsheet subsequently reported that to date this year there have been at least fifteen pedestrian strucks in Quincy per its review of state data.
In turn, Quincy Quarry can only properly add that Quincy is thus currently on track to be hit with a 30% increase from 46 pedestrians whacked by motor vehicles in Quincy during the whole of 2022 by year-end this year.
Needless to say, city officials have offered up an only to be expected range of deflections even if Quincy Quarry has repeatedly exposéd these woeful efforts to conduct traffic law enforcement field exercise.

While the City of Quincy continues to grow under Mayor Koch’s strong leadership rapidly, the Quincy Police Department finds itself under-budgeted and understaffed to meet the demands. City counselors need to wake up. More police officers working the streets are required.

Pork Chop,
Koch has increased the police budget by over 60% since coming into office fifteen years ago but the school budget by only 37%. Management is the problem, not funding, punk.
“While the City of Quincy continues to grow under Mayor Koch’s strong leadership rapidly”
Yeah, like a metastasizing cancer.
