Quincy Quarry News Weekly Fish Wrap: Hack attacks, hacks attacked, etc.
Granted, every week is arguably unique.
Even so, this week also featured multiple attacks.
For example, in response to yet another spike in Internet-wide spam attacks and such, Quincy Quarry News beefed up its phalanx of firewalls and which were concurrently upgraded by their vendors.
Upgraded big time.
Unfortunately, some Quincy Quarry readers were hit with lockouts care of an overabundance of caution with the various security softwares’ initial settings.
Accordingly, Quincy Quarry’s in-house security peeps tweaked the firewalls’ settings with more tweaks expected to likely follow.
In short, as well as how all computer users know all too well, software upgrades happen.
That and how software vendors’ tech support is what it is.
Accordingly, any Quincy Quarry News readers who have been so locked out of the Quarry’s website should both send along word of same to Quincy Quarry News by email via [email protected] as well as plan on toughing out a day off from reading the Quarry so as to let things reset behind the scenes.
And as for attacking hacks, the long anticipated Federal Transportation Administration Safety Management inspection final report of the accident-prone MBTA hit the fan this past Wednesday.
While the report was ultimately not all that much of a surprise to both the denizens of the Quincy Quarry News newsroom as well as long suffering straphangers, putting such things to print were unarguably hard shots to the soft underbelly of the T.
Particularly troubling is how very much less than compelling is how the MBTA followed up on Federal Transportation Administration recommendations care of its 2019 investigation in the wake of the catastrophic derailment at the Red Line’s JFK station.
Granted, the T has thrown money at things in the intervening years; actually making real progress, however, not so much.
In any event, while not explicitly stated, at this point the MBTA is no longer under double secret probation even if not (yet, ed.) officially put under federal receivership.
In other words, stay tuned for any and all possible additional breaking badly bad news©.
For example, how rumor has it that the Red Line is looking at some manner of service disruption in October after the whole of the Orange Line and Green Line Extension north of Government Center maintenance makeover rail service shutdowns are (supposed to be, ed.) completed.
After all, what are the odds that nothing is wrong with the Red Line?
And in the meanwhile so far, still no word as to what may be coming down the tracks for Quincy straphangers next month from Quincy Mayor Thomas P, Koch and who has been the Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board for a decade as well as is the most senior member of the MBTA Board of Directors.
In short, as well as yet again, not Only not in the Q but also not in the whole of the MBTA service area …
