Just a nobody breaks the biggest story of the year in college sports

A blogger who mostly blogs about Minnesota Golden Gophers sports arguably broke the biggest college sports story of year: the University of Southern California Trojan’s plans to jump ship from the Pac-12 Conference to the impending huge Big Ten (sic) Conference, something which no one amongst the major media saw coming.

How did this blogger do it? 

Knowing someone in the right place to drop him a dime.  

Someone who did not care to deal with a major media for reasons one can only speculate.

Then again, the perceived major media are focused on shoveling the same old same old as well as currying favor with those they cover.

In any event, are we now in a golden era of speaking truth to power – at least once one can winnow out all of the fake news and other sorts of nonsense foisted on social media?
