MBTA announces a month-long closure of the opened just a month ago Green Line Extension to Somerville

In a late breaking pile of breaking badly bad news© broken on a Friday so as to take advantage of a weekend in the hope that public rancor might so abate, the MBTA just announced that the just opened a month ago Green Line Extension to Somerville’s Union Square will be closed for a month given the impact of various problems already degrading MBTA service.
Additionally, the planned opening up of Green Line Extension service to Medford by the end of this summer was concurrently announced as looking likely to be delayed until (at least, ed.) late November.
With 24-hour access to both existing and future branches of the Green Line, crews will make further progress on final-phase construction of the #GreenLineExtension. GLX's Medford Branch is now expected to open for passenger service in fall 2022.
