Quincy Center was hit by a fire at a female boarding house on Bigelow Street Sunday morning.

Quincy Quarry News staffer happened upon the scene of the fire while on the way to church and was so able to both cover the story as well as secure exclusive photos.

Fortunately, the fire occurred all but around the corner from the Quincy Fire Department headquarters and the fire was thus quickly extinguished.

Serious fire damage was mostly limited to the upper two floors in the back of a three story building.

Even so, the building’s fourteen tenants will need to be housed elsewhere either permanently or until the building can be repaired.

The good news: only two residents suffered minor injuries.  One resident was taken to hospital over concerns about smoke inhalation and another was also transported to the hospital given a back injury incurred while jumping out of a window so as to flee the fire.

Further good news: local broadcast news media at the scene of the fire were so able score video for their house fire of the day story early in the day and will thus be able to next seek out the car accident story of the day.
