Orange Line suffers service disruption care of vandalism
– News covered by Quincy Quarry News with commentary added.
As one could have only reasonably expected, the latest MBTA service disruption hit the fan before Quincy Quarry News’ projected over and under date of the Fourth of July.
The latest problem: vandals damaged several Orange Line trains while they were parked overnight in their railyard adjacent to Wellington Station.
No word, however, if this was but a regular case of vandalism or if the damage was inflicted as retribution by angry straphangers, much less any word as to what happened to the T’s night watch person.
in any event, while only three trains were said to have been taken out of service given the vandalism, with new MBTA Orange lines recently yet again taken out of service given the latest manner of recall over defective components, the MBTA was already hard-pressed to put a sufficient number of trains into service to handle increased passenger loads per train given an already reduced schedule given a variety of ongoing problems.
As such, many Orange Line straphangers were so further delayed on their travels as they could not readily board packed trains and thus at least some had to wait for a less packed train.
Additionally, so livid were Orange Line rider Quincy Quarry’s Standards and Practices’ desk would not allow the Quarry to quote any of them.
Orange Line: We will be operating with longer headways this afternoon due to a limited number of trains. Multiple trains were vandalized last night and repairs are in process. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to put trains into service as quickly as possible.

Fortunately for the touts in the Quarry newsroom given such an optimist date before a new service disruption would hit the fan, they suckered the local MBTA board of directors members to lay down serious money on the over to cover the otherwise universal action put down on the under as well as the touts insisted on cash upfront as opposed to credit and so headed off collection problems.
