North Quincy High school lockdown sparked by the report of s weapon on campus.
This morning North Quincy High School was first locked down and then school dismissed early today one classroom at a time.
A search of the building did not find a weapon.
Accordingly, one cannot but help wonder if someone just wanted to enjoy the balmy weather today.
The public school district superintendent offered up the usual statements and words of appreciation of efforts by the police; however, there was no word – at least not initially – from Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch who as mayor is currently the Chair of the School Committee as well as a North Quincy High graduate.

Reports of weapons within our school system are concerning regardless of the outcome.
The report of a weapon making it into a school is already too late.
Quincy Public Schools need to be safe places for our children.
