Quincy Center three-car accident ties up a block on Hancock Street.
On what was an otherwise quiet midmorning this morning, the block of Hancock Street between Hannon Parkway and Hancock’s intersection with Elm and School Streets where Firestone Tire is located was full of first responders responding to a three-car accident.
What was curious was how the three cars were piled up along the curb with one car heading one way and the other two heading in the opposite direction. Granted, stranger accidents have happened, but probably not on this quiet two-lane run of Hancock Street.
In turn, this curious pile-up gave rise to not just one, not just two, but rather three TV news helicopters arriving on the scene shortly after Quincy Quarry personnel arrived on the scene while out and about looking for news on the mean and now-increasingly cold streets of Quincy.
THANK GOD those f-ing helicopters were roaring around, serving no useful purpose. Reporting on a situation that had already happened. A situation that was no longer active. Par for the course.
And although the “news” outlets are drooling all over themselves to get a scoop, they missed the real story — though it has nothing to do with this traffic situation. The real story is that Quincy can be proud of yet another nickname: CITY OF U-TURNS.
The fact that the city’s traffic patterns are completely irrational, confusing, and vague to a fare-thee-well is confirmed as drivers are often forced to change direction in order to get from point A to point B after encountering several unexpected and unnecessary traffic snafus between the two.
That and It can only get worse.
