Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch finally offers his response to Friday’s student walkout protest at Quincy High School
Fully seventy-two hours after students at Quincy High School walked out of classes morning Friday to protest alleged incidents of racial and sexual harassment that were said to go back as far as over a year in some instances as well as more than three hours after Quincy Quarry’s shot clock started counting the time until he might comment on the walkout at 9 am this morning, Mayor Koch, who as mayor is also the Chair of the School Committee, finally offered up his position to the walkout.
Mayor Koch tried to change the narrative by calling the walkout “unproductive” and then added that it was time for everyone to “… get to work …” to combat any issues of racism in the schools.
In others words, a false narrative as the problems that gave rise to the Friday protest have long been metastasizing during the tenure of his time in office.
That and his comments were both dismissive as well as disingenuous.
About all that is unclear at this time is if the Koch Machine yet again reached out to a local resident who is the pitbull of crisis management public relations and whom the Koch Machine has relied on previously as well as likely often when it has put its tukas in a sling or if Mayor Koch opted to yet again just wing it.
Then again, given Quincy Quarry News’ sources both in place high but mostly low, the odds are good that the Quarry will find out in due course.
In the meanwhile, Quincy Quarry suggests that its ever-growing legions of loyal readers check out the spot-on accurate comments by a well-known gadfly that were posted to the South Shore broadsheet’s coverage as yet again he hands the mayor nonsense, if not also his head, back to him on a platter.
In brief, George Orwell would be pleased with the gadfy’s incisive pithing of Mayor Koch’s long-going foisting of bogus kayfabe.
And finally, who only how much longer Mayor Koch can keep shoveling bovine byproduct remains to be seen.
How dare Mayor Koch call my children (grades 9 and 11) unproductive! Further, he then added, “get back to work!” Are you kidding me? Koch did not even show up at tonight’s meeting.
I regret my vote for Koch and will remember his lack of action and comments next time he asks my family for support!
More parents need to wake up and pay more attention to what has been going on at the high school. Tonight’s meeting made it very clear that our elected officials are not.
I honestly feel betrayed!
