Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap: World Kindness Day could not come soon enough!
Saturday is World Kindness Day and local events of the past week could not be more fitting calls for kindness.
For example, on Tuesday there was a racially motivated fight at Quincy High School.
Even more troubling, after this incident hit the fan, school officials then disclosed that last week sexually harassing and racially charged online material was being passed among students at both North Quincy High School as well as Quincy High School.
Most troubling of all on this front is how Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch has so far apparently not offered up any comment even though as mayor he is also the Chair of Quincy’s School Committee.
Then again, given Mayor Koch’s refusal to abide by the City Council’s vote to establish a Department of Social Justice, his apparent going to ground at this time by instead focusing on local Veterans Day events and the passing of former Quincy Mayor Frank McCauley should come as no surprises whatsoever to any of the ever-growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers.
After all, he does have a history of gaffes whenever he has not been provided with cue cards and has to ad-lib things, including on this very subject.
Further troubling yet there is now breaking word of a student protest walk-out this morning at Quincy High School over recent events and which the Quarry will address as soon as more particulars on this student walkout might become known.
No matter what, Quincy Mayor Koch has some explaining to do, if not also a calling on the carpet in light of both his past statements as well as continuing to fail to duly address this as well as all manner of other matters.
For example, how his consigliere tried to slip his plans for an over twice as large as local building codes allow residential real estate development project under the radar so that he could score himself a big score.
After all, with so many other parties with ties to La Kocha Nostra cashing in on outsized as well as often otherwise problematic real estate development grifts, surely the consigliere must have figured why not me too.
Unfortunately for him, however, Quincy Quarry and others have exposéd the consigliere’s attempted grift.
