A said to be man in his 60’s was struck by a car while out on an early morning walk with one of man’s best friends that was also struck and so tragically killed.
The man was rushed to Boston Medical Center with said to be serious injuries.
The accident happened near the intersection of Hancock Street and Furnace Brook Parkway and then resulted in the closure of Hancock Street while police accident investigators examined the scene of this fatal accident.
Further troubling, this is at least the fourth pedestrian injury accident this year in Quincy and which have resulted in at least four human injury victims as well as another fatality.

From the weekly fish wrap:
“So what, apparently, for the fact that traffic levels have been down dramatically from prior years . . . ”
Good point! I’m sure other people have noticed that more than a few drivers seem to have forgotten how to drive. And I might add that a lot of pedestrians seem to have forgotten how and where — and when — to cross a street.
Asterisk,
Clearly, it would appear that the percentage of Massachusetts drivers who are Massholes has increased during the pandemic. Particularly annoying — to me anyway — is how people are quicker to lean on their horns than rush hour commuters in the traffic circles along the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City. At the same time, a solid case can be made that jaywalking in the middle of a block is safer, if not way safer, than crossing a street in a crosswalk.
Washington Street has been an extremely dangerous and unpoliced drag strip for years!
I risk my few remaining years left on earth every time I have to go grocery shopping at Stop and Shop. My kids tell me to take a taxi or an Uber, but I need the exercise.
I complained to my nincompoop neighbor Dan Raymondi for at least 15 years and then the young kids who followed him as well as called City Hall too many times to count to no avail. Apparently, the city would rather keep Rescue One rolling than actually keeping Quincy’s senior citizens safe.
If your children, grandchildren, or grandparents have to cross Washington Street at the corner of Elm, please tell them to use the light on McGrath Highway instead.
God bless and please pay very close attention when crossing the other dangerous streets in Quincy.
Also, I would like to thank the editor and his or her staff for this wonderful news source. I have signed up for your newsletter, and I share it with my neighbors (except Dan Raymondi) and friends.
