A Quincy mother and her child hit by a car while crossing the street in a crosswalk to catch a school bus.
The ever-increasingly mean streets of Quincy continue to become even meaner.
The South Shore broadsheet reported that the mother and her second-grader were hit by a car while in a crosswalk at the intersection of Washington and Elm Streets at about 8 AM Tuesday morning.
Both were said to have been taken to area hospitals and thus apparently separately.
The driver told police that solar glare contributed to the crash.
At the same time, however, apparently no comment about perhaps also speeding at a point along Washington known for both speeding vehicles as well as numerous such pedestrian strikings, including a fatal one of an older man by a careless driver as well as right in front of a handful of grammar school children waiting for a school bus.
The City of Quincy has upgraded driver warning signage for this intersection, however, it continues to regularly suffer both pedestrian hittings and strictly vehicular accidents on a regular basis.
For example, just three weeks ago.
When the City of Quincy might opt to upgrade safety measures at this clearly dangerous intersection, however, remains to probably not be seen.

STANDARD traffic lights, with a button for pedestrians wishing to cross the street, are long overdue at this intersection. This is, as noted in the story, a dangerous spot and has a history of vehicular mayhem.
And as a secondary benefit, installing traffic lights and associated infrastructure would provide the city with yet another subject on which to exercise its painting and repainting skills as needed or desired.
