Pedestrian struck and killed by car on Quincy’s Newport Avenue on Saturday at 1:30 AM.
As if further proof is needed that the mean streets of Quincy are only becoming meaner, a 62-year-old pedestrian was struck on Newport Avenue near its intersection with Oakland Avenue.
The deceased pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident scene included a reported 278-foot skid mark and so indicating a high rate of speed.
A very high rate of speed.
While the name of the twenty-one-year-old driver of a jeep who apparently struck the deceased has not yet been released, both the male driver and a twenty-year-old female passenger were said to be Quincy residents. They are also said to have stayed at the accident scene.
Possible charges are on hold while various law enforcement authorities are reviewing their findings
