Restaurants face a nationwide chicken shortage.
First, it was toilet paper shortages.
Then came projections of gasoline shortages this summer as drivers return to the road both daily and for vacations.
And now comes word of the chicken supply chain failing to meet consumers’ penchant for comfort food based on chicken.
Additionally, last winter’s historically unprecedented frigid cold spell in Texas and nearby states laid waste to chicken populations and it will thus take time to repopulate these chicken houses.
And as for those who will be paying the price, they will include Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch as he is known for asking for broiled skinless chicken fingers when dining out at better local restaurants even though these restaurants do not have chicken fingers on their menus, not that this weight loss diet staple had any obvious impact.
